You are looking at a picture
of the first fully dimensional, full-color photopolymer hologram
ever published on the cover of a book. In fact, to our knowledge,
it is the first time this type of mass produced hologram has
been presented to a worldwide audience (outside a holography
science conference). It was made by Dai Nippon Printing Co.
Ltd. (of Japan) using a panchromatic holographic recording material
developed by DuPont.
To date, Dai Nippon
Printing (DNP) is the only company in the world that has demonstrated
the willingness and the ability to combine all the components
(panchromatic film, multiple lasers, specially designed replication
equipment) needed to mass-produce bright, high quality holograms
that are fully dimensional and realistically colored. You will
find more detailed information about the process used to make
this particular hologram in Chapter Six. Other companies that
are pusuing related work with color photopolymer holograms are
also profiled.
It is a great honor for Ross Books
to feature one of these magnificent new DNP holograms on the
cover of the Holography MarketPlace 8th Ed. It is a first for
the holography industry and the publishing industry as well.
We are proud to commemorate the first 50 years of holography
with such a hologram and sincerely believe that it represents
an important and invigorating development in our industry.
